Rocky Peak Pass - Simi Valley, CA

Highway 118 connects Simi and San Fernando Valleys, with the exit for Rocky Peak Fire Road almost exactly at the saddle between the two.

On the north side of the 118 you'll find the trail head with very little parking, all in the dirt.

We hiked this trail a matter of months after the 2004 fires, so we saw chemically treated ground and scorched plant life

The hike is uphill for the first mile or so,

with a cave followed by much more even terrain after that.

This trail is out and back with no shade and almost no living vegetation.
